Mass of Thanksgiving for the Young Church

I’m going to affectionately call this the Archbishop Appreciation Mass, because it serves two purposes: for the Archbishop to thank us, the young people… but it also allows us to thank the Archbishop for his support throughout his service to the Archdiocese.

The Mass will take place on Sunday, November 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Co-Cathedral. There will be a simple reception following Mass in the Lunney Center. Please join us in thanking our Archbishop!

From Matthew Beck, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry:

“In many ways, Archbishop Schwietz has been a champion in Catholic Youth Ministry. He was a members of the bishop’s committee that wrote “Renewing the Vision” and he co-authored the introduction for that foundational document. He has traveled with youth, young adults, and youth ministers to World Youth Day, the National Catholic Youth Conference, Teens Encounter Christ Retreats, and the National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry. He has been a part of many youth retreats in the archdiocese and has confirmed many Alaskan teens. He began and loves the Alaska Catholic Youth Conference and attends it year-after-year. I’ll never forget the first ACYC when he was sitting on a curb at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton enjoying a BBQ lunch on a paper plate with a bunch of teens.  He is the only bishop that many teens in Alaska have ever known, and the teens love him.”

Grow Your Prayer Life!

Do you want to grow closer to Jesus, but don’t really know where to start?

Well, besides attending Mass and growing in community with Youth Ministry, making a Marian Consecration (dedicating yourself to Jesus through Mary) is a really great way to go!

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Young Adults Ministry is sponsoring a Marian Consecration beginning on November 5. All you need to do is pray with us and read one page a day (and you can do that any time, anywhere)!

Learn more about Marian Consecration here.

Can I borrow your car this Friday?

The annual Trunk or Treat (Friday, October 28, 6-8pm) needs some more cars: decorate them and give out candy to kids in costumes. I’m bringing mine; can you bring yours? Think of a theme (or a pun, if you’re Fr. Patrick) and decorate your car (specifically, the trunk) for the occasion.

Setup begins at 5pm and they provide candy for us to give away to small people in costumes.

Join us!

More information about Trunk or Treat can be found here.
